Student pursuing Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (Telecommunications Option)
Hello! I am Chimwemwe Emily Kunje from Malawi. I have interest in solving problems that affect my country and any global problems. My engineering background has helped me discover some problems which can be solved through engineering designs and solutions. I am a telecommunications engineer but my interest is not confined to it. I like diversification.
I am a holder of BSC in Electronics and Telecommunications engineering degree from the University of Malawi Polytechnic. Currently am a student at PAN African University of Science and Technology Institute hosted by Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Throughout my engineering carrier I have a diverse experience in the engineering industry. I have worked on biomedical engineering projects under RICE 360 (USA), I have worked with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles drones (drones for health), electrical and computer related projects and telecommunications projects. Learning and applying new skills in my day-to-day life has always been my life style.
The projects below demonstrates my engineering design background, I have knowledge in C++ programming, electrical drawing designs, drone technology etc. These projects were all done to solve different problems which are faced in different countries around the world. These projects were done in groups which I was a part of.
This is a high fidelity prototype illustrating a low cost version of a tocodynamometer device. This is used when a woman is in labour and about to give birth. The device is mainly used in monitoring, displaying and warning a medical personnel when complications like uterine rapture are likely to occur. This is so to avoid uterine rapture which leads to deaths of women and babies during child birth in most African countries.
Drones for health project was to do with building up a UAV drone to assist in transportation of health facilities in remote areas. The image shows a drone built with locally available materials with a few materials imported from outside the country (Malawi).
This is a nutritional feeding device for an ant eater at the houston Zoo in USA, in its medium fidelity prototype form. Designed to help an ant eater in the zoo to feed well. It is made up of wood laser cut and glued into some maze puzzle format. It was made to excite an ant eater when its feeding so as to help prolong its life.
